In order to be able to plan, scientifically and operationally, a drilling well on the ocean floor, it is essential to obtain a series of data and information on the seabed using marine geology and geophysical investigations.
This video series is designed to introduce university students, or prospective students, to marine geology. Engineers and researchers who work daily in the field of marine geology and geophysics tell how they work at sea and in the laboratory. We think that the videos may also be of interest to professionals who are not experts in this subject, or to non-professionals intrigued by the geological and geophysical exploration of the ocean floor.

La collaborazione tra la commissione CNR ECORD IODP-ICDP e la collana di CNR Edizioni Comics & Science nasce dalla profonda convinzione che il fumetto sia uno strumento straordinariamente efficace per la comunicazione e la divulgazione scientifica. In un’epoca in cui la scienza deve essere accessibile e comprensibile a tutti, il fumetto si rivela un mezzo potente per raccontare storie complesse in modo avvincente e coinvolgente.

L’albo The Ocean Exploration Issue rappresenta un esempio brillante di questa filosofia. Al suo interno, il fumettista Alessio Spataro ci regala Lento Distacco, un racconto che va oltre la mera narrazione scientifica. The collaboration between the CNR ECORD IODP-ICDP commission and the Comics & Science  series from CNR editions stems from a deep conviction that comics are an extraordinarily effective tool for scientific communication and dissemination.
